ED'S NEW CD IS AVAILABLE NOW!!!

It's been a long time in the making, but "GETTIN' ORGAN-IZED" is finally ready. This is Ed's first CD featuring him on Hammond Organ, and here he is joined by the prodigious talents of Charlie Jones on guitar and Don Guinta on drums. The material is mostly originals by Ed, with a couple by Charlie, and 3 cover songs. Musically, it's all over the map (if you know Ed, you'd probably expect that it would be), and attempts to operate within the grand organ trio tradition while infusing it with a rawness and energy not always heard in that bag.

It is available for purchase at:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/EdAlstrom1 - packaged CD
http://www.digstation.com/EdAlstrom - download of individual tracks or the whole album

The CD is getting substantial airplay on jazz (and even blues) radio stations nationwide, including MOJA Radio (www.mojaradio.com)...THE WORLD'S MODERN JAZZ RADIO CHANNEL!
It has reached as high as #20 in the RMR charts in the NY area.

7th inning rendition.
This version is on the old Hammond at Yankee Stadium from 2004.

What ELSE?

Ed got to play an impromptu performance with Yankee great BERNIE WILLIAMS at the Yankees Homecoming Dinner in April 2010. Bernie received an award at the dinner and was slated to play his version of 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame',
and (during the sound check) asked Ed to join him! They are working out the arrangement in the shot below.

Just want to give props to the amazing LES PAUL (1915-2009). I had the good fortune to cross paths with him many times over the years, and to go to his house a few times (a trip for sure!). The innovation and guitar hero legacy is staggering, but he was also one of the funniest and most rip-roaring people you'd ever meet. Below is a photo of me sitting in with him at Iridium in NYC on his regular Monday night gig, February 2009.
RIP, Les...

Also, props to the late great ELLIE GREENWICH, who passed away on August 26, 2009. Ellie was a dear friend whom I met while performing on"Leader Of The Pack" on Broadway in the early '80s. If you don't know the name, you certainly know the music she wrote: "Be My Baby", "Hanky Panky", "I Can Hear Music", "River Deep, Mountain High", "Then He Kissed Me", "Leader Of The Pack", "Da Doo Ron Ron", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", and dozens of other smash hits of the 1960s. Phenomenally talented songwriter, singer, and producer, and a thoroughly delightful human being.
RIP, Ellie...
